The Hands of Betsy Devos That Are Just Good for Anything She Purposes to Do

Betsy DeVos was born as Elisabeth Dee DeVos in 1958. She comes from a family of elite and rich, in fact, Forbes ranked the family among the top hundred richest families in the US, with a net worth of over 5 billion dollars in 2016. His maternal father is the founder of the Prince Corporation, while her mother has been long serving in the education sector. Betsy DeVos is a seasoned businesswoman, philanthropist, activist, and politician.

She developed an interest in education from her mother who worked as a teacher. Years later, when she was married and raising a young family; she visited the Potter’s House Christian School, Grand Rapids along with her husband, Dick DeVos. The visit opened her eyes to the need for child-friendly environments parents were seeking to get and supported the school establish a commitment for the course. She has always advocated for the chartered school system to be allowed to continue enrolling students but be improved especially in the grading system and teaching strategies. The school choices should be broad with the emergence of private schools- those under the financial assistance program (school voucher) for their selection. From her, religious background, she advocates for Christian education in schools.

The Dick Betsy DeVos Family Foundation has helped fund health research and care, arts organizations, and evangelical missions among others. She has also been a part of the Prince Foundation and the Action Institute. By being both a politician and an activist, simply means she is active in philanthropy. Betsy DeVos subscribes to the Republican Party politics and even funded several of its campaigns. During the George Bush re-election in 2004, Betsy DeVos contributed over $150,000 to the course. In the 2016 presidential primaries, she supported Marco Rubio. For her advocacy and activism, she has been featured on the Lansing State Journal and the Inside Michigan Politics and been accorded some coveted titles and names.

In the last quarter of 2016, the President-Elect Donald Trump nominated her as the United States Secretary of Education. The process when through the Senate for scrutiny and in 2017 approved her appointment. She is the current and 11th Unites States Secretary of Education. She attended the Holland Christian High School and later Calvin College in Michigan for undergraduate – Bachelors of Arts. It is from the college that she began becoming involved in campus politics.
